Informed Consent for Outdoor Groups and Therapeutic Gatherings

Thank you for your interest in participating in a Nurtured in Nature therapeutic gathering session. This single-session experience is intended to create a supportive environment for participants to connect and engage with the grounding potential of nature and art. We will gently explore self-care and emotional wellness in community.

Therapeutic Process

This gathering is 1.5 hours long, takes place in a publicly accessible outdoor location, and is facilitated by Emilie K. Clark, LCSW, a licensed mental health professional. It includes mindfulness and sensory awareness exercises; guided opportunities to connect with the outdoor setting; and prompts for using art materials to reflect on your inner experience, creativity, and self-expression.

Please note: While this is a therapeutic space, it is not group psychotherapy or a substitute for individual mental health treatment.

Materials and Accessibility

Art supplies will be provided. Please bring any items that support your comfort or meet personal needs during the session (weather-appropriate clothing, water bottle, or seating supports like a pillow or folding chair).

A confidential 15-minute phone call is available for anyone who wishes to discuss accessibility needs before the group. To schedule this, please contact Emilie at the email or phone listed above.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is important. As the facilitator, I will keep one-on-one conversations confidential unless you give permission to share. I will not share your personal information and contact with other participants, though you may choose to share it yourself. I will not discuss information shared during the group outside of the group setting, unless there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person.

Please know:

  • In a group setting, I cannot guarantee that other participants will keep information private. You are encouraged to share only what feels comfortable for you.

  • Because this gathering is outdoors in a public space, conversations or artwork may be visible or overheard by others nearby.

  • As a licensed clinician, I am required to break confidentiality if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others.

Safety

While participating outdoors, you are responsible for your personal safety. Please dress appropriately for the weather and be mindful of environmental factors (such as uneven terrain, insects, or plants like poison ivy). Emilie K. Clark and any group facilitators are not liable for any injuries or accidents during your participation.

Emotional safety is equally important. By signing this consent form, you agree to help create a respectful and supportive space. Hate speech, derogatory comments, or harmful behavior will not be tolerated. Differences of opinion are natural and can be explored with care and respect.

Payment and Fee

The fee for this gathering is offered on a sliding scale. Please choose the amount that feels fair and manageable based on your circumstances.

  • For Eventbrite-listed gatherings, payment is collected through the Eventbrite platform.

  • For other gatherings, payment can be sent via Zelle to emiliekpsychotherapy@gmail.com.

Refunds: Payment reserves your spot. Refunds are not provided if you cannot attend. If the facilitator cancels the group or reschedules to a rain date you cannot attend, you will receive a full refund.

Attendance and Weather Adjustments

Every effort will be made to hold the gathering on the scheduled date, including moving to a covered area if needed. A rain date will be provided when possible if weather requires rescheduling. If you cannot attend the rain date, your payment will be refunded.
